Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Our new season of worshiping together begins on Sunday, September 27, at 6:30 p.m. How appropriate that the theme for this year is “What Are You Seeking?”
We can all be seekers—seekers who desire to grow in faith, seekers who long to live out our faith, and seekers who are open to understanding God’s call to each of us, both individually and as a community of faith.
We live in a time when we are connected in so many ways. Yet, how easily we can become over-connected through our electronic devices, the pressures of social media, and even the tyranny of our calendars. In the midst of all this noise and activity, do we sometimes lose ourselves? Do we lose the ability to be still, to listen, and to hear the voice of God?
You are invited on September 27 to join together as we seek a fuller understanding of silence. How can it help us deepen our faith? And what challenges do we encounter when we intentionally make space for silence in our lives? What gifts do we receive when we are silent?
Psalm 27:8 reminds us to seek God’s face. Silence can create the space within us to receive the fullness of that gift—to quiet the voices around us and within us so that we might become more attentive to God’s voice yearning to enter our lives, the voice calling to us: “Come, my child, rest in my presence. Allow my Spirit to give you the gift of rest, the gift of peace, the gift of my Spirit.”
What better way to seek a deeper understanding of silence than to do so together as a community of faith? Come join us for this special time of song, Scripture, silence, communion, and prayer.
God is extending an invitation to you and asking: “What are you seeking?”
