Dear Friends of the Wholeness Service:
Our world does not cooperate with us very well! Each of us has an idea of how our lives should play out, of what should happen to us and those around us. Yet natural disasters occur somewhere daily; violence between nations and groups flows down to an individual level. We can’t even expect our dearest friends to always agree with us.
And so we pray. We pray for God to tell the world to shape up, to line up with our desires. What we can’t control, God is ordered to control for us And if nothing changes, we get offended. We begin to feel that everything is against us, plotting to disrupt our perfect, ideal world. We feel persecuted. And we may feel it our right to strike back against the world that mistreats us.
Sadly, real persecution does. Happen. It happens whenever we begin to play God ourselves, to use whatever means we can—violence too often—to enforce our own dreams at the expense of others. Persecution happens when we persecute.
Can we learn to bless, instead?
We look forward to seeing you in the beautiful sanctuary of San Gabriel Presbyterian Church on APRIL 23, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.!
