A candlelit evening at St. Philip’s United Methodist Church
[Round Rock, TEXAS, January 15, 2026] — The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service (https://www.wholeness-service.org) will bring an evening of candlelight, contemplative prayer to St. Philip’s United Methodist Church (https://www.stphilipsumc.org) at 16321 Great Oaks, Round Rock, TX 78681. The service will take place on January 25, 2026 6:30 pm.
This event is a continuation of the seasonal theme, “Hope Beyond All Hope.” With music directed by Ginger and Sean Mann and worship directed by Rev. Kyren Schultz, with Karen Strange and the Reverends Tom Tickner and Vicki Joy McClure, the Wholeness Worship team will help the people of St. Philip’s to fill their beautiful chapel with scripture and song. In the darkened sanctuary, congregants will hear the Word, light intercessory candles, and sing haunting chants from early Christianity, led by a chancel choir and top local musicians. Come early (6:20) to sit for a few minutes in the candlelight, surrounded by instrumental music.
While worshipers enjoy the beauty, song, and silence, vocalists Karen Strange (soprano), Sean Mann (baritone), and Jayden Mann (baritone, youth cantor) will sing solos based on scripture. Flutists Ginger Mann and Sallia Bandy will join pianist Sean Mann on instrumental variations. The congregation will be invited to light candles to symbolize their intercessory prayers, and pastors will be available for private prayer on request.
Centered in Georgetown, Texas, the Wholeness Service offers hours of prayer which are Biblical, not doctrinal. This unique approach to worship allows them to partner with Christian churches of all denominations across Central Texas. It is a philosophy learned from the community of Taizé, France, which devotes itself to worldwide peace and reconciliation. This truly ecumenical style of worship was taught to the Wholeness worship team over many years of study with monastics in that community.
On January 25, the candlelight intimacy of a pure Taizé evening prayer service will bring scripture, silence, and song to St. Philip’s United Methodist Church in Round Rock, Texas.
