January, 2021 Prayer Letter

Next Zoom Gathering:

January 24, 2021 6:30 PM (Bridge opens: 6:15 PM)
Communion Service

Dear Friends of the Wholeness Service

It seems like each month when we send out this Prayer Letter we begin with something like

Greetings of grace and peace.  Whew ….. we have survived X, and Y is this week!

X and Y could be the elections, the holidays, the events at the Capital last week, or the inauguration next, or The Pandemic.  2020 was such a wack-a-mole kind of year, and it looks like 2021 is shaping up to be more of the same.  We are exhausted, physically, mentally, emotionally, and perhaps spiritually which is why the kindness of Jim Deuser’s message “God Bless Us All: Every One!” is so timely.  Being kind to one another is a way for God to bless us.

Kindness, one of the Fruit of the Spirit, is our focus on this month.  In December Rev. Steve shared on Peace, and in February, we welcome back Rev. Dr Ann Hagmann for a message on Goodness.  We have missed you Ann, it will be good to have you back.

Communion Elements: This month we will be observing/celebrating communion together after Jim’s message.  Be sure to have your communion elements ready, wine/juice and bread.

It is such a joy to gather on Zoom as The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service has been doing since September.  Our next worship service is January 24 at 6:30pm, and a link will be sent out on Friday, January 22.

When we gather together in our homes, be prepared to

  • light candles to reflect our prayers;
  • send personal prayer requests via chat or to lift them up during the intercessory prayer;
  • observe 5 minutes of silence together;
  • share in communion with your own elements;
  • And of course, sing with our hearts with the musicians who have worked so hard to grace us in worship.

God will bless us all; God will bless every one of us.

Please help us get the word out to your churches and organizations about the Ecumenical Wholeness Service.  Each month new people join us in worship but there are so many more who need the kindness that happens when we all gather, be it in person or on Zoom.

Entering 2021 with all of the uncertainty before us, one “resolution” that will stand us in good stead is the resolve to be kind which will be the focus of Jim’s message.

I hope you will join us for this timely message.

Peace,

Steven
