What are you Seeking? Preview Service
August 23 @ 10:30 am – 11:30 am CDT

Announcing a preview of our 2026-27 season, “What are you Seeking?” All worshipers, regardless of church affiliation, are welcome to join us at 10:30 am August 23, 2026 at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, Georgetown, Texas for a Service of Healing and Wholeness introduced by the Songs and Prayers of Taizé. While this will take place during the church’s Sunday morning worship hour, it will be an ecumenical service, with focus on scripture rather than doctrine. Like our regular services of wholeness, intercessory candles will be available and private prayer with ministers be offered.
What are you seeking? Silence. Direction. Joy. Meaning. A just world. Community.
Last year, Br. Matthew of Taizé asked Jesus’ first question in the book of John. Six young adult volunteers in Taizé from six separate countries gave their own answers. In his January introductory letter, Br. Matthew reflects on their words, and responds with the Word of God. Inspired by their insights, we are pleased to announce our theme for 2026-27: “What are you Seeking?” It begins with the Community of Taizé’s theme for their 2026 calendar, “Que cherches-tu ?” and ends by brings their lessons home to Central Texas.
Pastors and lay speakers will prepare brief homilies throughout the year. Scripture will be selected for meditation based on each topic. This season will combine both Services of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers on various dates. Service type and location will always be noted.
About the songs: Taizé Prayer chants are congregational, made of short phrases that are repeated for ease of participation. In our services, we always sing in English, but for an idea of how the songs sound, please enjoy this YouTube playlist.
About the Service: The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service meets once per month. All services are open to the public. We pray together by using two very special types of worship templates: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are led by a diverse community of area Christians, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles. A time is set aside for private prayer and anointing with oil. Communion is offered to all in attendance, with gluten-free elements available.
We hope to see you, our friends and neighbors, in 2026-2027.
