SUMMARY:Celebration of the Saints\, November 1\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:All Saints’ Day falls on All Saints’ Sunday this year. In honor of those who have completed their baptisms\, we bring back our popular celebration of Saints with a luminaria display at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church. Surrounded by this great cloud of witnesses\, will continue our tradition of collecting non-perishable food on this evening for Helping Hands of Georgetown\, Texas\, as well as cash donations to fill their food pantry. \n\n\n\nSince 2020\, we have celebrated Saints on All Saints’ Day. Starting in 2025\, we began to devote our entire service to the celebration. Like last year\, we plan to worship outdoors in the columbarium of Partner Church San Gabriel Presbyterian Church. The lanterns are both prepared and funded by the Wholeness Community\, as a gift to the Georgetown\, Texas area. Watch for a call-out for remberances\, which we will collect until October 29 this year. \n\n\n\nWhat are you seeking? Silence. Direction. Joy. Meaning. A just world. Community. \n\n\n\nLast year\, Br. Matthew of Taizé asked Jesus’ first question in the book of John. Six young adult volunteers in Taizé from six separate countries gave their own answers. In his January introductory letter\, Br. Matthew reflects on their words\, and responds with the Word of God. Inspired by their insights\, we are pleased to announce our theme for 2026-27: “What are you Seeking?” It begins with the Community of Taizé’s theme for their 2026 calendar\, “Que cherches-tu ?” and ends by brings their lessons home to Central Texas. \n\n\n\nPastors and lay speakers will prepare brief homilies throughout the year. Scripture will be selected for meditation based on each topic. This season will combine both Services of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers on various dates. Service type and location will always be noted. \n\n\n\nAbout the songs: Taizé Prayer chants are congregational\, made of short phrases that are repeated for ease of participation. In our services\, we always sing in English\, but for an idea of how the songs sound\, please enjoy this YouTube playlist. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Service: The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service meets once per month. All services are open to the public. We pray together by using two very special types of worship templates: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are led by a diverse community of area Christians\, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles. A time is set aside for private prayer and anointing with oil. Communion is offered to all in attendance\, with gluten-free elements available. \n\n\n\nWe hope to see you\, our friends and neighbors\, in 2026-2027.
