SUMMARY:Blessed are the Poor in Spirit\, Sep 25\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service continues in-person services in 2022-2023\, with its first service gathering on Sept 25\, 2022. This year\, we celebrate a season of Beatitudes with monthly speakers from the pastoral community of our Williamson County partner churches. We will meet at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church\, Georgetown Texas. All services are open to the public. \nWe will pray together by combining two very special types of worship services: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are a diverse community of area Christians\, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles. A time is set aside for anointing by ministers. Communion is offered to all in attendance\, with pre-packaged and gluten-free elements available. \nAbout the meditations: Our subject for the coming season is\, “The Beatitudes.” Brief homilies will be prepared by area ministers\, and guided by a senior pastor. Scripture will be selected for meditation based on each topic. 2022-2023 topics are: \n\n\n\nSeptember 25\nBlessed are the Poor in Spirit\n\n\n\nOctober 23\n Blessed are those Who Mourn\n\n\n\nNovember 20\nBlessed are the Gentle\n\n\n\nDecember 11\nBlessed are those who Seek Virtue\n\n\n\nJanuary 22\nBlessed are those who Show Mercy\n\n\n\nFebruary 26\nBlessed are the Pure of Heart\n\n\n\nMarch 26\nBlessed are those who Seek Peace\n\n\n\nApril 23\nBlessed are those who Are Persecuted\n\n\n\nMay 28\nBlessed are Are Scorned\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the songs: Taizé Prayer chants are congregational\, made of short phrases that are repeated for ease of participation. In our services\, we always sing in English\, but for an idea of how the songs sound\, please enjoy this YouTube playlist. \n\n\n\nAbout COVID-19 and safety: All are welcome at the Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service. While COVID continues to challenge us\, we will provide for in-person worship with a well-ventilated\, flexible space where social distancing and close seating are both possible. For those in quarantine\, livestream worship is available. \nWe hope to see you\, our friends and neighbors\, in 2022-2023.

SUMMARY:Songlearning Social
DESCRIPTION:Save the date! The Wholeness Service kicks off the 2022-2023 season with a gathering and social on August 28\, 2022. Starting at 4:00 pm\, music directors welcome the public at 5404 Williams Drive\, Georgetown TX\, where we will sing through all of our songs for the 2022-23 season. \nMidway through the session\, take a break with us and have a snack in the east wing of the sanctuary. Light finger foods\, coffee\, and water will be provided. After break\, have a seat again and sing the rest of our music\, including the lovely theme song of the season\, “Blest Are They.” \nOur theme for 2022-2023 is “Rejoice and Be Glad!” Our scriptural focus is “The Beatitudes.” We will continue to sing the haunting chants of early Christianity brought to us by the music of Taizé\, and we will continue to offer classical backdrops as well as appropriate choral anthems. All music is congregational\, all congregation members are invited and encouraged to sing when the Little Choir sings. \nCome to hear the sounds of Taizé and sing with us on August 28. Then come back September 25\, and every month afterward\, to add your voices to ours in our monthly evenings of candlelight contemplative prayer. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSong #\nTitle\nLyrics\nListen\n\n\n3\nAlleluia 11\nAlleluia\, alleluia\, alleluia!\nYouTube\n\n\n9\nBless the Lord\nBless the Lord\, my soul\, and bless God’s holy name\, Bless the Lord my soul\, who brings me into life\nYouTube\n\n\n11\nIt Is Good to Trust\nIt is good to trust in the Lord our God\, trust and hope in the Lord our God.\nYouTube\n\n\n12\nWait for the Lord\nWait for the Lord whose day is near.
