SUMMARY:Power of Peace\, April 28\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service is a candlelight\, contemplative prayer service that meets onsite monthly at any of its Williamson County partner churches. This season\, we meet at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church\, Georgetown Texas with meditations centered around the topic “Pursuing Peace.” All services are open to the public. \nWe will pray together by combining two very special types of worship services: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are a diverse community of area Christians\, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles. A time is set aside for anointing by ministers. Communion is offered to all in attendance\, with pre-packaged and gluten-free elements available. \nAbout the meditations: Our subject for the coming season is “Pursuing Peace.” Brief homilies will be prepared by area ministers\, and guided by a senior pastor. Scripture will be selected for meditation based on each topic. 2023-2024 topics are: \n\n\n\nSeptember 24\nLove Your Neighbor\n\n\n\nOctober 22\n Be Not Afraid\n\n\n\nNovember 19\nFrom Anger to Peace\n\n\n\nDecember 17\nPeace for All\n\n\n\nJanuary 28\nPeace Within\n\n\n\nFebruary 25\nForgiving Peace\n\n\n\nMarch 24\nBelieving in Peace\n\n\n\nApril 28\nPower of Peace\n\n\n\nMay 26\nResponsible Peace\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the songs: Taizé Prayer chants are congregational\, made of short phrases that are repeated for ease of participation. In our services\, we always sing in English\, but for an idea of how the songs sound\, please enjoy this YouTube playlist. \n\n\n\nAbout COVID-19 and safety: All are welcome at the Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service. While COVID continues to challenge us\, we will provide for in-person worship with a well-ventilated\, flexible space where social distancing and close seating are both possible. For those in quarantine\, livestream worship is available. \nWe hope to see you\, our friends and neighbors\, in 2023-2024.

SUMMARY:Songlearning Social: August 27\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:Save the date and bring a friend! The Wholeness Service kicks off the year with a gathering and social on August 27\, 2023. Starting at 4:00 pm\, music directors welcome the public to 5404 Williams Drive\, Georgetown TX\, where we will review our songs for the season. \nSnacks are back\, let us know if you are coming?\nWe’re also bringing back the potluck snacks. Brace yourself for a bounty\, our worship team doesn’t know how to skimp. We will serve some treats in the east wing of the sanctuary and provide a plenty of coffee and ice water. Water break provided in the middle of the session\, then stick around afterward to socialize. Also important: It helps us if we know how much food to bring. If you’ll be there\, would you please let us know? Click here to opt in. \nThinking of joining the music team?\nThe music team always has a place for you. All you need is the willingness to sing or play an instrument. If that sounds like you\, come on out and discover how we can involve you. You can also email inviteme@wholeness-service.org to inquire about music opportunities.\nOur theme for 2023-2024 is “Pursuing Peace.” We will continue to sing the haunting chants of early Christianity brought to us by the music of Taizé\, and we will continue to offer classical backdrops as well as appropriate choral anthems. All music is congregational\, all congregation members are invited and encouraged to sing when the Little Choir sings. \nCome to hear the sounds of Taizé and sing with us on August 28. Then come back September 25\, and every month afterward\, to add your voices to ours in our monthly evenings of candlelight contemplative prayer. \nOur new songs for the season are:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSong #\nTitle\nKey\nListen\nLyrics\n\n\n4\nKyrie 1\nG\nYouTube\nKyrie\, Kyrie eleison\, Kyrie\, Kyrie eleison\n\n\n28\nCome and Fill\nD\nYouTube\nCome and fill our hearts with Your peace. SUMMARY:Songlearning Social
DESCRIPTION:Save the date! The Wholeness Service kicks off the 2022-2023 season with a gathering and social on August 28\, 2022. Starting at 4:00 pm\, music directors welcome the public at 5404 Williams Drive\, Georgetown TX\, where we will sing through all of our songs for the 2022-23 season. \nMidway through the session\, take a break with us and have a snack in the east wing of the sanctuary. Light finger foods\, coffee\, and water will be provided. After break\, have a seat again and sing the rest of our music\, including the lovely theme song of the season\, “Blest Are They.” \nOur theme for 2022-2023 is “Rejoice and Be Glad!” Our scriptural focus is “The Beatitudes.” We will continue to sing the haunting chants of early Christianity brought to us by the music of Taizé\, and we will continue to offer classical backdrops as well as appropriate choral anthems. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSong #\nTitle\nLyrics\nListen\n\n\n3\nAlleluia 11\nAlleluia\, alleluia\, alleluia!\nYouTube\n\n\n9\nBless the Lord\nBless the Lord\, my soul\, and bless God’s holy name\, Bless the Lord my soul\, who brings me into life\nYouTube\n\n\n11\nIt Is Good to Trust\nIt is good to trust in the Lord our God\, trust and hope in the Lord our God.\nYouTube\n\n\n12\nWait for the Lord\nWait for the Lord whose day is near.
