SUMMARY:Courage to Act\, March 23\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service is a candlelight\, contemplative prayer service that meets onsite monthly at any of its Williamson County partner churches. This season\, we meet at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church\, Georgetown Texas with meditations centered around the topic “Courage.” All services are open to the public. \nWe will pray together by combining two very special types of worship services: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are a diverse community of area Christians\, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles. A time is set aside for anointing by ministers. Communion is offered to all in attendance\, with pre-packaged and gluten-free elements available. \nAbout the meditations: Our subject for the coming season is “Courage.” Brief homilies will be prepared by area ministers\, and guided by a senior pastor. Scripture will be selected for meditation based on each topic. 2024-2025 events are: \n\n\n\nDate\nTime\nTitle\nLocation\n\n\n8/25/2024\n6:30 PM\nTaizé Evening Prayers\nSt. Joseph’s Episcopal\, Salado\n\n\n9/22/2024\n6:30 PM\nCourage to See\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n10/27/2024\n6:30 PM\nCourage to Hear\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n11/1/2024\nSunset\nAll Saints Remembrance\nColumbarium\, San Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n11/24/2024\n6:30 PM\nCourage to Discern\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n12/15/2024\n6:30 PM\nCourage to Love\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n1/26/2025\n6:30 PM\nCourage to Suffer\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n2/23/2025\n6:30 PM\nCourage to Believe\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n3/23/2025\n6:30 PM\nCourage to Act\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n4/27/2025\n6:30 PM\nCourage to Journey\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n5/25/2025\n6:30 PM\nCourage to Serve\nSan Gabriel Presbyterian\, Georgetown\n\n\n\nAbout the songs: Taizé Prayer chants are congregational\, made of short phrases that are repeated for ease of participation. SUMMARY:Taizé Evening Prayers in Salado
DESCRIPTION:The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service is delighted to travel back to our partner\, St. Joseph’s Epicopal Church\, Salado\, Texas for another evening of Taizé Prayer at 6:30 pm\, January 12\, 2025. Led by an interdenominational worship team based in the Georgetown\, Texas area\, the Wholeness Service partners with churches all over the Central Texas area. Each service creates several unique opportunities for contemplative worship\, including Taizé meditations. For this\, we find St. Joseph’s iconic chapel to be ideal.\n\nOn this night\, we will continue to celebrate the new year as we meditate on thematic scriptures from our current season of “Courage.” With music under the direction of Ginger Mann and pastoral leadership by Rev. Vicki Joy McClure and Vicar Lynn Osgood (both St. Joseph’s)\, the Wholeness Worship team will fill St. Joseph’s with candlelight\, scripture\, and song. Worshipers are invited to sing along with the haunting tunes of early Christianity\, ornamented by vocal and instrumental solos. Songs will be sung in English with some in Spanish. The Word will be spoken and sung in both languages. Opportunities for candlelight intercession and private pastoral prayer will also be given during the service. \n\n\nPrincipal cantor Sean and music director Ginger Mann completed their pilgrimage to the Christian Community of Taizé\, France in July\, 2017 and spent several years studying with members of the monastic community. They brought back the art and craft of Taizé meditations to their home in Central Texas. \nThe Wholeness Service looks forward to the candlelight intimacy of Taizé Prayer with our friends in Salado\, Texas\, as we welcome the new year. \nService Time: 6:30 pm\nPrelude: 6:20

SUMMARY:Taizé Evening Prayers in Salado
DESCRIPTION:The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service is delighted to partner with St. Joseph’s Epicopal Church\, Salado\, Texas for an evening of Taizé Prayers at 6:30 pm\, August 25\, 2024. Led by an interdemoninational worship team based in the Georgetown\, Texas area\, the Wholeness Service partners with churches all over the Central Texas area. Each service of Wholeness creates several unique opportunities for contemplative worship\, including Taizé Prayers. On August 25\, the Wholeness Service will present Taizé prayers to the community of Salado in the chapel of their Partner\, St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church.\n\nThis event launches a new season for the Wholeness Service on the theme of “Courage.” With music and pastoral leadership under the direction of Ginger and Sean Mann and Karen Strange\, and with the help of St. Joseph’s members Vicki Joy and Jeff McClure\, the Wholeness Worship team will fill the beautiful chapel with candlelight\, scripture\, and song. They will first dim the lights and allow the congregation to focus on the sounds of a classical and Taizé-inspired prelude. Worshipers are then invited to sing along with the haunting tunes of early Christian chant\, ornamented by the voices of Karen Strange (soprano) and Jayden Mann (youth cantor). Cellist Beverly Harrison will join Ginger Mann (flute) to ornament congregational music with instrumental solos. Songs will be sung in English with some in Spanish\, and the Word spoken and sung in both languages. \n\nSean and Ginger Mann completed their pilgrimage to Taizé\, France in July\, 2017\, and spent several years under the mentorship of the Taizé Community. With the help of their friends overseas\, they brought the art and craft of Taizé songs and prayers home to Central Texas. Taizé plays a central role in each Service of Wholeness\, The Wholeness Service looks forward to the candlelight intimacy of Taizé Prayer on August 25\, with our friends in Salado\, Texas\, as we kick off our new season for 2024-2025.\n\nService Time: 6:30 pm\nPrelude: 6:20 (Prelude)\nEarly Q&A\, Taizé Prayer: 6:00 pm

SUMMARY:Songlearning Social: August 27\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:Save the date and bring a friend! The Wholeness Service kicks off the year with a gathering and social on August 27\, 2023. Starting at 4:00 pm\, music directors welcome the public to 5404 Williams Drive\, Georgetown TX\, where we will review our songs for the season. \nSnacks are back\, let us know if you are coming?\nWe’re also bringing back the potluck snacks. Brace yourself for a bounty\, our worship team doesn’t know how to skimp. We will serve some treats in the east wing of the sanctuary and provide a plenty of coffee and ice water. Water break provided in the middle of the session\, then stick around afterward to socialize. Also important: It helps us if we know how much food to bring. If you’ll be there\, would you please let us know? Click here to opt in. \nThinking of joining the music team?\nThe music team always has a place for you. All you need is the willingness to sing or play an instrument. If that sounds like you\, come on out and discover how we can involve you. You can also email inviteme@wholeness-service.org to inquire about music opportunities.\nOur theme for 2023-2024 is “Pursuing Peace.” We will continue to sing the haunting chants of early Christianity brought to us by the music of Taizé\, and we will continue to offer classical backdrops as well as appropriate choral anthems. All music is congregational\, all congregation members are invited and encouraged to sing when the Little Choir sings. \nCome to hear the sounds of Taizé and sing with us on August 28. Then come back September 25\, and every month afterward\, to add your voices to ours in our monthly evenings of candlelight contemplative prayer. \nOur new songs for the season are:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSong #\nTitle\nKey\nListen\nLyrics\n\n\n4\nKyrie 1\nG\nYouTube\nKyrie\, Kyrie eleison\, Kyrie\, Kyrie eleison\n\n\n28\nCome and Fill\nD\nYouTube\nCome and fill our hearts with Your peace. SUMMARY:Blessed are those who Seek Peace\, Mar 26\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service continues in-person services in 2022-2023\, with its seventh service gathering on Mar 26\, 2023. This year\, we celebrate a season of Beatitudes with monthly speakers from the pastoral community of our Williamson County partner churches. We will meet at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church\, Georgetown Texas. All services are open to the public. \nAbout the meditations: Our subject for the coming season is\, “The Beatitudes.” Brief homilies will be prepared by area ministers\, and guided by a senior pastor. Scripture will be selected for meditation based on each topic. 2022-2023 topics are: \n\n\n\nSeptember 25\nBlessed are the Poor in Spirit\n\n\n\nOctober 23\n Blessed are those Who Mourn\n\n\n\nNovember 20\nBlessed are the Gentle\n\n\n\nDecember 11\nBlessed are those who Seek Virtue\n\n\n\nJanuary 22\nBlessed are those who Show Mercy\n\n\n\nFebruary 26\nBlessed are the Pure of Heart\n\n\n\nMarch 26\nBlessed are those who Seek Peace\n\n\n\nApril 23\nBlessed are those who Are Persecuted\n\n\n\nMay 28\nBlessed are Are Scorned\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the songs: Taizé Prayer chants are congregational\, made of short phrases that are repeated for ease of participation. In our services\, we always sing in English\, but for an idea of how the songs sound\, please enjoy this YouTube playlist. \n\n\n\nAbout COVID-19 and safety: All are welcome at the Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service. While COVID continues to challenge us\, we will provide for in-person worship with a well-ventilated\, flexible space where social distancing and close seating are both possible. For those in quarantine\, livestream worship is available. \nWe hope to see you\, our friends and neighbors\, in 2022-2023.
