SUMMARY:Forgiving Peace\, February 25\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service is a candlelight\, contemplative prayer service that meets onsite monthly at any of its Williamson County partner churches. This season\, we meet at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church\, Georgetown Texas with meditations centered around the topic “Pursuing Peace.” All services are open to the public. \nWe will pray together by combining two very special types of worship services: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are a diverse community of area Christians\, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles. A time is set aside for anointing by ministers. Communion is offered to all in attendance\, with pre-packaged and gluten-free elements available. \nAbout the meditations: Our subject for the coming season is “Pursuing Peace.” Brief homilies will be prepared by area ministers\, and guided by a senior pastor. Scripture will be selected for meditation based on each topic. 2023-2024 topics are: \n\n\n\nSeptember 24\nLove Your Neighbor\n\n\n\nOctober 22\n Be Not Afraid\n\n\n\nNovember 19\nFrom Anger to Peace\n\n\n\nDecember 17\nPeace for All\n\n\n\nJanuary 28\nPeace Within\n\n\n\nFebruary 25\nForgiving Peace\n\n\n\nMarch 24\nBelieving in Peace\n\n\n\nApril 28\nPower of Peace\n\n\n\nMay 26\nResponsible Peace\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the songs: Taizé Prayer chants are congregational\, made of short phrases that are repeated for ease of participation. In our services\, we always sing in English\, but for an idea of how the songs sound\, please enjoy this YouTube playlist. \n\n\n\nAbout COVID-19 and safety: All are welcome at the Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service. While COVID continues to challenge us\, we will provide for in-person worship with a well-ventilated\, flexible space where social distancing and close seating are both possible. For those in quarantine\, livestream worship is available. \nWe hope to see you\, our friends and neighbors\, in 2023-2024.
