On this night, we will continue to celebrate the new year as we meditate on thematic scriptures from our current season of “Courage.” With music under the direction of Ginger Mann and pastoral leadership by Rev. Vicki Joy McClure and Vicar Lynn Osgood (both St. Joseph’s), the Wholeness Worship team will fill St. Joseph’s with candlelight, scripture, and song. Worshipers are invited to sing along with the haunting tunes of early Christianity, ornamented by vocal and instrumental solos. Songs will be sung in English with some in Spanish. The Word will be spoken and sung in both languages. Opportunities for candlelight intercession and private pastoral prayer will also be given during the service.
Principal cantor Sean and music director Ginger Mann completed their pilgrimage to the Christian Community of Taizé, France in July, 2017 and spent several years studying with members of the monastic community. They brought back the art and craft of Taizé meditations to their home in Central Texas.
The Wholeness Service looks forward to the candlelight intimacy of Taizé Prayer with our friends in Salado, Texas, as we welcome the new year.
Service Time: 6:30 pm
Prelude: 6:20
The Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service is a candlelight, contemplative prayer service that meets onsite monthly at any of its Williamson County partner churches. This season, we meet at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, Georgetown Texas with meditations centered around the topic “Courage.” All services are open to the public.
We will pray together by combining two very special types of worship services: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are a diverse community of area Christians, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles. A time is set aside for anointing by ministers. Communion is offered to all in attendance, with pre-packaged and gluten-free elements available.
About the meditations: Our subject for the coming season is “Courage.” Brief homilies will be prepared by area ministers, and guided by a senior pastor. Scripture will be selected for meditation based on each topic. 2024-2025 events are:
