Matthew 22:37-40
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.Aug 15, 2022
Matthew 25: 34
I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
During the September service, we will reflect on what it means to love our neighbor, and even, who our neighbors are. This first scripture couldn’t be clearer in our obligations. The first, for many of us, probably isn’t that complicated. But If we accept both the scriptures quoted here, everybody in the whole world is our neighbor. This, for me, is challenging to observe, as I believe The Lord intended. My hope is that during our September service, we might, together, explore the Lord’s expectations for us.
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.
