“Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:3
Dear Friends of the Wholeness Service,
Our focus this year comes from one of the most loved portions of the Gospel: the “Beatitudes.” Each beatitude is proverb-like; concise and yet full of meaning. In the 2022-23 season, we will cover one beatitude per month, and reflect on how the verse fits into its larger biblical theme.
As we prepare for this new season of Wholeness Services, I offer this prayer:
Beloved,
May we set aside what we think we know about ourselves, others, God, and the Beatitudes, as we worship in this new season of music, prayer, healing and wholeness.
Let us pray to the Lord for open spirits, minds, and hearts. Let us humbly listen to the Holy Spirit as we each reflect on what it means to be “poor in spirit.” May we discover ‘the poorness of Spirit’ in ourselves, that the promise for the kingdom of heaven may be fulfilled. May it be so.
Amen.
Rev. Mary Margaret Sallet

You are invited to OUR FIRST SERVICE of the 2022-23 SEASON!!
SEPTEMBER 25, 2022 at 6:30 p.m..
Dear Friends of the Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Service!
Save the date! On Sunday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m., we will continue to gather in the beautiful sanctuary of San Gabriel Presbyterian Church. We can now include our at-home community through live-streaming and later online viewing! All services are open to the public.
Live-streaming will be available both on YouTube and Facebook. Tune in to our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfozpujFSJZjV4qNSh_a9CQ, or our Facebook channel at https://www.facebook.com/taizegeorgetown
As in the past, we will pray together by combining two very special types of worship services: the Service of Healing and Wholeness and Taizé Common Prayers. We are a diverse community of area Christians, and these services are open to all who would come. Songs are sung from the Community of Taizé. Opportunities are given for intercessory prayer and the lighting of candles, and a time is set aside for personal prayer and anointing by ministers. Communion is offered to all in attendance, with pre-packaged and gluten-free elements available.
This month, Rev. Mary Margaret Sallet offers a meditation on the first phrase of the Beatitudes: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” More information: https://wholeness-service.org/2022/09/14/blessed-are-the-poor-in-spirit-for-theirs-is-the-kingdom-of-heaven/. We hope to see you in the sanctuary at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, 5404 Williams Dr. in Georgetown, or that we serve you remotely.
For those with Covid concerns, our host church is an open building with good ventilation and plenty of space for distancing. Masking will follow an updated policy by the church that allows us to continue to worship in person. All unvaccinated people and children must wear masks while inside the building, and we provide masks at the door. Vaccinated worshippers are also welcome to use these masks. If you would prefer to worship at home, will also offer live-streaming worship for you. Live-streaming will be available both on YouTube and Facebook. Tune in to our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfozpujFSJZjV4qNSh_a9CQ, or our Facebook channel at https://www.facebook.com/taizegeorgetown
Please pass this invitation on to your friends, neighbors, and loved ones. We look forward to worshipping with you in our candlelit sanctuary and from other locations, as we seek wholeness in the Holy Spirit.
