Desert Time: A Service for March 22, 2020

Maybe we cannot be together in person during this season of Lent, but we can still pray together. Tonight, March 22, 2020, we invite you to share with us in our monthly hour of prayer. We are one in the Spirit, and we believe that if we gather together, God is in our midst.

On this page starting at 6:30 pm, we published all of the movements of our Ecumenical Wholeness Service both here and on our Facebook Page, during the time we would have performed them with you in the sanctuary. These are the songs, scripture, meditations from each minister; the prayer litany, candlelighting, and Communion movements. There is also an invitation to observe silence.

We are the Body of Christ. We need not be troubled or afraid, and as the words of the Taizé Community remind us, “Nothing can ever come between us . . . .” Allow God to be with you now. Be with us in your homes and in your hearts. Think of your neighbor, even if we cannot touch each other.

Below are all of the worship materials for your use. You are invited back to this page as often as you need it. We hope it helps you to invite God into your heart and home.

As we like to say, “All are welcome in this place!”

A few notes on what to expect

  • You are the leader of your own service. Materials are provided for your use in a self-directed, self-prepared space
  • We hope you have read the guide on preparing your space for worship. If not, please take a moment to do so now
  • Songs here are from YouTube. Many recordings are not in English, but English lyrics are provided for your use. (We are working on permissions that will allow us to perform and stream the songs in the future.)
  • Need help? Try our Facebook Page. Send us a message, and we do our best to get you going.

Prepare a Space for Prayer

Many hours are spent at the Georgetown Ecumenical Wholeness Services considering things such as lighting, sound, placement of musicians, and ornaments in the […]

Desert Time: A Litany

Oh, Lord, we find ourselves in the midst of our 40 days of desert time, similar to Your 40 days in the desert.  In completing our preparation for your Resurrection, help us Oh, Lord. We come before you, Lord, in this time of reflection, becoming more aware of our insignificance in Your universe, frightened by our […]
